Video Games for Learning, Can They Bring Us Closer Together?

Future Tense is a partnership of the New America Foundation, Arizona State University, and Slate that “examines emerging technologies and their effects on policy and society.”

In a recent article (08/06/2012) in Slate, the reality of how much our attention to media and digital devices – even at very early ages – can foster isolation and divisiveness. Yet, the authors argue, the same technology could also unite us, through the agency of intergenerational gaming. Looking back into history, and then bringing the concept to “right now” a thoughtful examination of the concept of how games could bring people together again is delivered in this story.
